E-Commerce

A significant part of traditional international trade has shifted online, with businesses offering products and services at both B2B and B2C levels.

Since July 2021, the EU-wide Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) scheme has been introduced as a solution to simplify distance sales through electronic platforms. IOSS enables the streamlined import of goods delivered from third countries to EU consumers.

The scheme applies only to consignments with an intrinsic value of up to €150, which are subject to VAT but exempt from import duties.

Customs-related restrictions and limitations are managed by individual member states in accordance with EU legislation.

IOSS registration, along with the processes for monthly VAT returns and payments, is carried out in the chosen EU member state of the electronic platform business. Certain customs declarations (H7) must be submitted in the member state where the goods are consigned, while physical and documentary inspections remain under the jurisdiction of local customs authorities.
